Visit to Imperial War Museum, London

This tour has been arranged by Alex Pepper, Project Co-ordinator at the Thomas Pocklington Trust.  The tour is open to adults who are blind or visually impaired, and living within the London boroughs of: Croydon, Sutton, Merton, Wandsworth, Kingston and Richmond.

Date:               Wednesday 21st June

Venue:           Imperial War Museum, Lambeth Road, SE1 6HZ

The tour of the museum has been specially adapted for blind and visually impaired groups, and will be guided by an IWM member of staff, who will provide direction and detailed description, as well as providing some tactile objects in parts of the tour.

The trip will be facilitated by Alex on behalf of the Thomas Pocklington Trust.  Volunteers will be provided by TPT for the day.

Participants will have the option of bringing along a sighted carer or companion if they would prefer to a volunteer.  Guide/assistant dogs are also welcome on the tour.

Janice O'Donnell

It is with great sadness that we record the death of Janice O'Donnell.  Janice joined our Board of Trustees in August 2007.  Janice became involved with our Charity and was very active in raising funds through organising events such as Bridge sessions and quizzes.  She also represented the Charity at some important official meetings in the Borough.

Janice developed Macular Disease herself and was able to speak first-hand about the challenges presented by sight loss. Janice must be admired for her determined and constant efforts in supporting, and raising the profile of, Sutton Vision throughout. Janice will, indeed, be very much missed.

Chair of Trustees
